Journalistic Food for Thought
A friend shared this quote with me yesterday and, in turn, I wanted to share it with all of you
“Columnists are the heart and soul of any journalistic enterprise. They’re unfettered voices of a newspaper or magazine, they opine, snarl, and otherwise shout from the treetops. The best columnists have a mastery of subject, an ironclad take, and complete command of the written word. Columnist Geoff Colvin once said, ‘to succeed as a writer you must grab the reader by the lapels, shake him, and never let go.'” – Andy Serwer
I loved this . . . I thought it would be a nice lead in to my next post . . . coming to a DIYdancer site near you : ). I’ve had many people ask me why I want to go to grad school for Journalism. The truth is, I’m a “full out with feelings” kind of gal and if I am going to do something then I am going to do it 200%. I can thank dance for instilling that type of discipline and dedication in me. If I am going to pursue a post-performance career in journalism then I want to be well equipped before entering the field, so I can “grab [them] by their lapels . . . and never let go.” For now, I shall leave my fellow DIYd-ers with these words to ponder on for the weekend. Until next time . . .
