A little holiday update
I’ve been neglectful towards my Dd posting lately … though not entirely neglectful of Dd. At the risk of sounding cliche, things have been crazy the past month.
The fall semester of LEAP ended recently, thus completely my navigation through PPA (Personal and Professional Assessment) and my Senior Project. PPA had me writing 10-pg papers, based solely off of personal experience, almost every week and my Senior Project was actually all about DIYdancer.
Between school and my writing gigs, I was on my computer nonstop. I even started bringing my laptop onto the train so I could work on projects and assignments while in transit … yes, I was THAT girl.
This weekend, will be my final Nutcracker performances and then I’m jetting off to Atlanta for some holiday fare with the fam. This fall has been adventurous and stressful. While my future is still uncertain, I know I have the building blocks for the next few years to come. In the meantime, I’m trying to take deep breaths and stop sweatin’ the small stuff. Life always has a way of working out for me. It makes me think of a quote from the writer Julia Cameron.
“Leap and the net will appear.”
Words to live by for 2012 …
I know I keep harping about this, but I can assure you that big things are on the way for Dd. The 3 of us have been meeting a lot to talk about the future and direction of the site and I just presented 22 pages of insight and research to my Sr. Project professor. Gradually, we will share all of this information with our readers. In the meantime, here’s something to marinate on.
I read a great book called Here Comes Everybody by Clay Shirky. The tagline to his book was “Revolution doesn’t happen when society adopts new technology, it happens when society adopts new behaviors.” What started as an interest in exploring technology’s effects on the dance community turned into a study of human behavior, researching on how to create a community to strengthen the individual dancer’s voice.
Happy Holidays! 2012 is gonna be one heck of a year for DIYdancer!
