Video Preview: Trisha Brown's Final Works at BAM

 In Archives, Uncategorized

Tonight the Trisha Brown Dance Company returns to BAM with the final two works, both NY premieres, of Brown’s long and influential career. The program will also include three pieces of repertory–counting collaborations with art giants Robert Rauschenberg, Donald Judd, and Laurie Anderson–including the solo Homemade performed by TBDC veteran Vicky Shick.

The past few years in the dance world can easily be logged by the greats we have lost, Merce Cunningham (and his company) and Pina Bausch among them. The end of this week will add Brown’s innovative work to the list, though her company will carry on. Stay tuned for a critical conversation between me and Rebecca Hadley in response to this mile-marking show and the new era it necessarily hails.

Excerpts of the original 1983 BAM production of Set and Reset plus the two newest and final works I’m going to toss my arms—if you catch them they’re yours and Les Yeux et l’âme can be seen on TBDC website.
