1. Anneke Hansen Dance: “she is not a comfortable thing”
I saw a postcard for this performance at a cafe I frequent near Westbeth and was immediately intrigued.
At Westbeth on Thursday 10/24 at 8pm, Friday 10/25 at 8pm, and Saturday 10/26 at 7pm and 9pm. Tickets $20.
2. Brian Brooks Moving Company
The company performs Run Don’t Run at Brooklyn Academy of Music.
“In Run Don’t Run, Brooks (recently awarded a 2013 Guggenheim Fellowship) employs rapid-fire partnering to explore the spatial contradictions of bodies in motion. Behind a blur of color—created by hundreds of cloth strands stretched across the stage—dancers ricochet off one another in a strobe-like flurry of actions: captured, suspended, and broken apart. Microphones installed throughout the space pick up every sound, amplifying the laws of gravity and inertia, as the dancers transgress space and time.”
Tuesday 10/22 – Saturday 10/26 at 7:30pm. Tickets $20.
