1. New York City Ballet

Though you have to wait until the end of May to catch Justin Peck’s new collaboration with Sufjan Stevens, Everywhere We Go, there’s an even better reason to go to the ballet this week: Wendy Whelan. The legendary ballerina ends her decades-long career with NYCB in October, but the spring season ends soon, and there aren’t many opportunities left to see her perform with the company at Lincoln Center. This weekend, however, you can get your Whelan fix in  Glass Piecesa work by Jerome Robbins to music by Phillip Glass.

Saturday May 17  at 8 and Sunday May 18 at 3. Tickets start at $30.

2. Melinda Ring: Forgetful Snow

Choreographer Melinda Ring presents a dance in three parts, which she calls her “most ambitious work” yet. First, dancers take part in two installation works, The Landscape and (Memory of)  Snow Machine, during the day, which are free and open to the public. In the evening, the dancers draw on the experience for an intimate performance, Forgetful Snow.

Thursday May 14- Saturday 17. Installation performances are 3-6 and free, and Forget Snow begins 7 pm, at The Kitchen. $15.
