A lighter and gluten-free, vegan alternative to regular pizza crust, this garbanzo bean based dough will supply additional protein and complex carbohydrates so you can have your pizza and feel good about eating it too.
Gluten Free, Vegan Pizza Crust
Ingredients:
2 cups garbanzo bean flour
2 cups water
2 tsp sea salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
extra-virgin olive oil
Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. In a large bowl, mix the garbanzo bean flour with water until well combined. Add the salt, baking powder and baking soda and mix until smooth. Let the batter sit for about an hour at room temperature. Coat a round baking sheet or pizza pan with olive oil into pan for the bottom of the pan and pour batter onto pan, as if you are making a pancake about ½ inch thick.
Bake at 400 degrees for 15-30 minutes, until the dough pulls away from the sides and looks cooked through. The crust is done when it pulls away from the sides and it looks fully cooked. Remove from the oven, add your favorite pizza toppings and bake for another 10-15 minutes until everything is heated through.
