{ Dd } Short Short List 11/9 – 11/15
This batch of bicoastal picks arrives just in time to get your contemporary dance fill before the Thanksgiving holiday. We are feeling very grateful indeed to be able to include a shoutout to one of our very own contributors, Lara Wilson.
1. The Assembly present IV at Orange County Center for Contemporary Art
When she is not moonlighting as a writer and graphic designer, Dd’s Lara Wilson is choreographer and dancer. As one of the founding members of The Assembly, she is dancing and also directing this evening length event which features work by Delyer Anderson, Christopher Bordenave, Kalynn Marin, and Jobel Medina as well as a large-scale set piece by past Assembly dancer and engineer Isaac Bekker, costumes by resident designer Hannah Jenkinson, and original score by NYC-based sound designer Luke Folger. With free drinks, a place to park, and restaurants nearby, this dive into into mundane aspects of the world we live in–such as concrete, light, wood, and mirror–seems like an opportunity to turn an evening of performance into a perfect date night!
