With live music and real-time decision making, Rebecca Lazier’s NYLA debut is sure to captivate. Set to Terry Riley’s IN C, with a live score by Dan Trueman, the fourteen dancers will move spontaneously through set modules of movement while the twelve musicians do the same with sound. The only way to know what happens, is to go see and hear it for yourself.

2. Stealing Time at GK Arts Center in DUMBO

The Gelsey Kirkland Ballet, the performing wing of Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet, performs a new work by Kirkland’s husband and art partner, the choreographer Michael Chernov, to music by Kurt Weill. Playing with the concept of illusions, the disconnect between “what our eyes see and think they see”, this show is a dark odyssey about temptation and perspective and a chance to see the next generation of dance artists (whom Kirkland has been nurturing to be actors first, dancers second) performing to music not often used to accompany movement.

3/17 – 3/19 7:30p, 3/20 2p
$25
