{ Dd } Short Short List 6/6 – 6/12

The weather is heating up, but theaters have air conditioning! Here is your quick guide to dance this week….

1. Vanessa Anspaugh at Abrons Arts Center

The final installment of UNLEASHED, The Joyce Theater’s series of experimental art in intimate spaces, features Brooklyn artist Vanessa Anspaugh. The world premiere of Anspaugh’s The End of Men; An Ode to the Ocean, asks this question: “What does a feminist work look like without women?” Go for this investigation into masculine vulnerability, stay for the dynamics of domination and surrender. I suspect no two answers will be the same.

6/8 – 6/11, 7:30 p.m.

2. Satellite Collective at the 92nd St. Y

Satellite Collective, an arts incubator led by architect and writer Kevin Draper, brings an interdisciplinary program of young and emerging artists from the New York City Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Juilliard and the indie music and video scenes to the 92nd St. Y’s Dig Dance: Weekend Series. Check out new dances from Marcus Willis and Devin Alberda, as well as performances from Lauren King and Marika Anderson in a new film by Lora Roberston, scored by Stelth Ulvang, a member of the rock group The Lumineers. Plus there will be a spoken word invocation and an architectural intervention–go experience what all of these modalities mixed into one bill really means!

6/10 – 6/11, 8 p.m.
6/12, 3 p.m.
